Our Statement on AI
At Bird Creatives, artificial intelligence is a tool, not a replacement for the human relationships, creative expertise, and community trust that define our work.
We use AI selectively, with intention and in accordance with our values. Where tools help us work more efficiently, organize research, refine language, or summarize notes, we welcome it. Where it risks substituting for genuine human creativity or misrepresenting the communities we serve, we will not use it.
We will not use AI to generate creative work that could or should be produced by a local artist, designer, or writer. We will not use AI to create synthetic imagery that misrepresents real people, places, or events. We will not use AI-generated content in place of the authentic voices of the communities we work with.
A human reviews all AI-assisted work at Bird Creatives before it reaches a client or the public. Final judgment, accountability, and authorship remain with our team.
Our approach to AI will be reviewed regularly. As the technology evolves, so will our thinking, and we'll keep this statement updated to reflect where we stand. We strive to be transparent with our clients and partners. We welcome any questions on how we use AI for our work.
Land Acknowledgement
Bird Creatives is deeply grateful to live, work, and create on the traditional and ancestral territories of the peoples of Treaty 6 and Treaty 7.
We acknowledge that Treaty 6 is the home of the Cree, Nakoda Sioux, Dene, Saulteaux, and the Métis peoples of the Lesser Slave Lake, Lower Athabasca River, and North Saskatchewan River regions. The Métis settlements of Buffalo Lake, Kikino, Elizabeth and Fishing Lake also find home in this territory. We also recognize that Treaty 7 encompasses the traditional territories of the Siksikaitsitapi (Blackfoot Confederacy)—including the Siksika, Kainai, and Piikani Nations—as well as the Tsuut’ina Nation and the Îyâxe Nakoda, comprising the Bearspaw, Chiniki, and Wesley First Nations. We further acknowledge the Métis peoples of the Battle River Territory.
We are honoured to call these lands home and carry a responsibility to work in ways that respect local histories, cultures, and ongoing stewardship. As we engage in creative work across these territories and beyond, we strive to contribute to a creative economy that is inclusive, respectful, and grounded in meaningful relationships.
Commitment to
Truth and Reconciliation
At Bird Creatives, we understand that Truth and Reconciliation is not only about acknowledging the original caretakers of this land—it is also about sustained action.
We are committed to learning about and addressing anti-Indigenous racism and to actively engaging in solidarity with Indigenous communities. This commitment includes:
Elevating Indigenous voices through our platforms and events
Prioritizing the engagement of Indigenous artists, curators, vendors, and partners
Including land acknowledgements in our programs, reports, and public gatherings
Ensuring Indigenous representation on juries and panels
We recognize that this work is ongoing, and we remain dedicated to seeking new and deeper ways to honour Indigenous presence, knowledge, and leadership in our work.
