Project Background

Calgary Arts Development supports and strengthens the arts to benefit all Calgarians. They invest and allocate municipal arts funding provided by The City of Calgary and leverage these funds to provide additional resources to the arts sector. Their programs support hundreds of arts organizations, individual artists, artist collectives, and ad hoc groups in Calgary.



Calgary Arts Development is Calgary’s largest arts-funding body, investing millions of dollars each year through its grant investment programs. With this comes an additional responsibility to steward sponsors, recognize artists, and celebrate the arts community and creativity in Calgarians' everyday lives.

THE CHALLENGE



Bird Creatives works closely with Calgary Arts Development on a number of events and initiatives, including the Leaders Legacy Awards, the Celebration for the Arts hosted by Mayor Gondek (and the former Mayor’s Lunch for Arts Champions), the Poet Laureate Program, and engagement around their Living a Creative Life Strategy. 

Most recently, Bird Creatives was honoured to run the sponsorship program for the Celebration for the Arts hosted by Mayor Jyoti Gondek. This fun, interactive gathering welcomed art champions and artists together in celebration of Calgary’s amazing arts community, showcasing a variety of artistic disciplines through performances, installations, and the Cultural Leaders Legacy Arts Awards.
